Jiro wasn't born being te best man to make sushi. He worked really hard to get there and become successful. If we want to be successful we have to overcome obstacles and be ready to improve everyday just like Jiro has done over the years. Jiro could easily retire, but he doesn't because he loves his job, if we want to be good at something we have to love it just like Jiro. This man is an example for everyone who wants to succces and be good at what they love. He shows that dedication and hard work are everything you need. He doesn't need a luxury restaurant, he just needs his deditication to make his restaurant one of the best in the world.

Something I've learned

I have learned a lot of things. However i consider responsibility the best thing i have learned so far. Being responsible helps you a lot every time you turn your work, homework, participate you are helping yourself.  If you are responsible you also get trust from others they can be teacher, family or friends. If people around you trust you, is important to know that you will also gain self confidence.

I'm here

This course is different from other English courses i have take before. At the beginning it was not easy, it was tough. Now that has changed this course has worked pretty good for me. It just depends how hard you are trying a lot of it is just being responsible. Dr. Preston trusts us that's why we have to put our part and do our work. I enjoy and like the way our course works. English has always been a tough subject for me not is not to hard I've learned that being disciplined and responsible help out even if you are not the smarted kid in English literature.

Chapters 9-26

There are a lot of new things i discovered about Holden, reading a these chapters gave new impressions of Holden. The most sad thing was that he felt depressed for everything, it's weird but he was getting depressed really easy. Something really interesting is that Holden was trying to be social to people he meet. For example he invited Ernest Morrow's , cab drivers and some other people to have a cocktail, The thing was that everyone rejected his invitation it seemed that they had something better to do. After he left Pencey i can say that his life turned to an adventure. He got in trouble with a prostitute it was a misunderstood situation however Holden ended up getting in trouble with a guy name Maurice. Holden also had another teacher he appreciated a lot that was Mr Antolini one of his former English teachers at some other school he attended. Personally i couldn't imagine Holden being social but reading all this chapters made discovered people can change. Holden even went to see a play with some girl that was a friend of him. However it wasn't always like that he just didn't liked some people or a lot of things. Even his sister Phoebe told him that, he didn't like anything. Holden met three girls in a  bar he even danced with one of them but at the end didn't like them the same happen when he saw one girl his brother D.B used to date and some navy guy. One of the few things he liked was that little boy singing "the catcher in the rye". Also the only person he cared for was his sister Phoebe , we can really tell he likes her and loves her a lot. He even risked getting caught by his parents just to see her. He admires her and describes her as a nice cute little girl. There were some moment where Holden had some crazy ideas like working on a gas station and make people think he is deaf-mute person or when he thought on killing the one who wrote bad word on the walls. Holden even admitted he was a coward when he talks about his Pencey gloves and killing the one who wrote bad words in the wall, he admits he doesn't have what it takes to face that kind of people which made him get depressed. Something really interesting was that Holden never got to talk to Jane the girl he liked. The end of the story it's pretty much the same way he started he goes back to his same attitude, which for reason i don't know why reminds he is a terrific liar and once he starts lying he can't stop.

Presentation Notes chapters 3,4,5,7,8,13

Chapter 3: Holden talks about he has read which mean something:
-out of Africa means, he will leave.
- the return of the native means, that he will return.
-human bondage means, the way he talks.
This books symbolize actions that will take place on this story.
Chapter 4: Holden starts to criticize Stradlater and also to compare him with Ackley. Holden didn't just to that before this chapters. This can show that his attitude is changing he beginning to be different.
Chapter 5: Holden and Mal decide to go to the movies. Holden didn't just to this before, which also shows he is changing. The fact they invited Ackley can tell us that he being more friendly now.
Chapter 7: After fighting with Stradlaer Holden decides to go and talk with Ackley. Holden is doing the same Ackley does to everyone he is invading his space. Another point is that probably he sees Ackley more as a friend.
Chapter 8: Holden meets Ernest's mom, and he describes her as a good lady. Later on they start talking about Ernest even though Holden doesn't like him he talks good things about him just because he likes his mother. He wants to give her a good impression of her son. Holden also says a lot of lies about himself which proves that when he starts lying he can't stop.
Chapter 13: Holden walks back to the Hotel. They have stolen his gloves he is mad but he knows that he wouldn't done anything about it if he knew the person who stole them. He wants to prove to himself that he is not a coward when someone tells him they will introduce a prostitute to him accepts. However later he refuses to have fun with the prostitute even though she wants to. He lies to her, which shows he is still a liar, and just pays her so she can leave him alone.

Chapter 8 response

Holden decides to leave Pencey, he feels kinda sad about it. In the train Holden Meets Ernest Morrow's mom. He doesn't give her his real name which shows he hasn't changed to much since the beginning of the story. Holden doesn't say his real name and doesn't say why his nose is bleeding which backs up what he said earlier that he was a terrific liar. Holden says that once he starts lying he can't stop. It seems that he will always be that kind of person, i hope he can change if he keeps lying his future won't be good.

Literature analysis #1 The catcher in the rye

1. What drew me to read this book was the fact that i never read a book like this one before. I expect to discover more new things about the main character Holden. He doesn't really let us know who he really is, he hides his personality, attitude and feelings.

2. The fact that the book is getting more interesting has kept me reading it. All our class in reading it to it's a good book.

3. I usually read before i sleep, i do this because that way i feel that I'll remember more information of what i read.
-
1. The books starts with Holden not giving us any information about him, something very unusual because most characters when they are introduce tend to give information about themselves. Later on we discover that Holden is not a normal teenager, he doesn't seem to like anyone. We can also tell that he is not to interesting in school.

2. So far i would say that the theme of the novel is cowardice because Holden is afraid is letting us know who he really is.

3. The author's  tone is direct he is strait forward:
- When Holden says he isn't going to tell us his biography.
-When Holden says he is just going to tell us the bad stuff it happened to him last Christmas.
- When Holden says his brother wrote terrific short stories.

4. Literary elements:
- Holdens is a static character he doesn't change to much.
- There's an allusion when Holden talks about his Brother's baseball mitt.
- There's an allusion when he talks about Jane.
- There's suspense when Holden and Stradlater fight.
- Most of the setting of this story takes place in Pencey
- The theme of story can be cowardice.
